The students started out by looking at this picture of a dinosaur. We discussed as a class what the dinosaur looked liked. We talked about how to make our sentences more exciting by using descriptive words. The students got very creative with their sentences. We then divided the dinosaur into parts. The students were divided into groups of three to work on their sentences for our dinosaur story. |
|
We divided the dinosaur into the following parts: head, neck, body, feet, tail, and the whole dinosaur. Each student told the others their sentence. The students knew that their sentence couild not be the same as another child's in their group. |

Our story was very descriptive and fun to read! The children were very imaginative in the language that theyused to describe the dinosaur. |

We had a wonderful time doing our class story! We try to do some form of group writing with every theme unit that we complete in our class. I feel these activities create wonderful learning moments for all of those involved. The following are a few examples of the students individual pieces. |
